Privacy Policy

How LeBahamas handles personal information on this website and in enquiries started from it.

Last updated:

Welcome to LeBahamas. We respect your privacy and are committed to handling personal information responsibly.

This Privacy Policy explains how LeBahamas collects, uses, stores and protects personal information when visitors use this website or contact us through the phone and WhatsApp links on the website.

This policy is intended to reflect the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019, and other applicable data protection requirements. It is a draft until the confirmations above are completed.

It covers this website and enquiries started from the website. It does not describe personal information that may be collected by physical Wi-Fi hotspot equipment, captive portals, or other in-person systems, except where that information is also shared through the contact methods on this website.

1. Who we are

LeBahamas is a Kenyan business offering Wi-Fi and internet-related services, pool entertainment, and information about its physical outlet.

You may contact us using these details with questions about this Privacy Policy or how we handle your personal information.

2. Information we may collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may process:

  • Contact information you voluntarily share, such as your name or telephone number.
  • Information contained in messages or enquiries sent through phone or WhatsApp.
  • Information necessary to respond to questions about Wi-Fi services, installations, pool entertainment and other business services.
  • Limited technical information that may be processed when your browser loads published content from Google Firebase, or by a hosting or security service in front of the website, such as IP addresses, browser information and diagnostic logs.
  • Authentication and account information belonging to authorized website administrators, including the email address and sign-in details used with Firebase Authentication.

Ordinary website visitors are not currently required to create an account to browse our public pages. The website has no visitor registration form, contact form, or online payment.

3. How we use information

We use personal information where appropriate to:

  • Respond to customer enquiries.
  • Communicate about services requested by customers.
  • Provide information about our business and services.
  • Maintain and secure the website.
  • Manage website announcements and business information.
  • Prevent misuse and investigate technical problems.
  • Meet applicable legal obligations.

We do not use personal information for unrelated purposes without an appropriate lawful basis.

5. Phone and WhatsApp communication

Our website includes links allowing visitors to call LeBahamas or start a WhatsApp conversation.

Clicking the WhatsApp link directs you to WhatsApp, which is a third-party communication service. The website does not receive or store the contents of that call or chat. Your use of WhatsApp is subject to WhatsApp's own terms and privacy practices.

Information you choose to share in a conversation may be used to respond to your enquiry and assist with the service you requested.

Please avoid sending unnecessary sensitive personal information through these contact channels.

6. Website administration and Firebase

LeBahamas uses Google Firebase for website administration, authentication and content management. Published pages read announcements, service information and website settings from Cloud Firestore. That Firestore client uses an in-memory cache for the browsing session.

Authorized administrators may sign in with Firebase Authentication to manage announcements, website settings and service information. An administrator session can be kept in the browser with Firebase local persistence. The administration screens also store a navigation display preference in the browser's local storage. That preference is not a visitor profile.

Access to administrative functions is restricted through Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore security rules. Administrator records are not available to public visitors. Public visitors can browse published website information without administrator access.

Google describes how Firebase handles data in the Google Privacy Policy (opens in a new tab).

7. Hosting, cookies and technical data

Our website may rely on hosting infrastructure and on browser storage needed to operate its features.

The current website does not include analytics tools, advertising trackers, or non-essential cookies, and it does not show a cookie consent banner. Authorized administrators may use authentication-related browser storage to maintain their sessions, as described above.

Our hosting and technology providers, including Google Firebase, may process technical data required to deliver and protect the website. Connections from the browser to Firebase use HTTPS.

Where optional analytics, advertising trackers or non-essential cookies are introduced, we will update this notice and implement applicable transparency and consent requirements.

8. Sharing of information

We may share limited information with service providers where necessary to operate the website or respond to enquiries.

These may include Google Firebase and, when a visitor chooses that communication channel, WhatsApp. A provider hosting the website may also process technical data required to deliver it.

We do not sell personal information to advertisers or data brokers.

We may disclose information where required by applicable law or a lawful request from an authorized authority.

9. International data processing

Some technology service providers, including Google Firebase, may process or store information outside Kenya.

Where personal information is transferred internationally, we will take steps to comply with applicable Kenyan data protection requirements, including appropriate safeguards where required. The storage region and the particular safeguards for this website still need to be confirmed.

10. Data security

We take reasonable technical and organizational steps to protect personal information.

On this website, those steps include restricted administrative access, Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore security rules, and encrypted HTTPS connections supported by Firebase.

However, no internet-based service or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.

11. Data retention

We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, or as required by applicable law.

The relevant retention period depends on the type of information, the purpose of processing and any legal obligations. This notice does not state a fixed retention period. Phone and WhatsApp conversations are not stored by the website. Content and administrator records kept in Firebase remain until they are changed or removed.

Information that is no longer needed will be deleted or otherwise handled appropriately, subject to lawful retention requirements.

12. Your privacy rights

Subject to applicable Kenyan law, you may have the right to:

  • Be informed about how your personal information is used.
  • Request access to personal information held about you.
  • Object to certain processing activities.
  • Request correction of inaccurate or misleading information.
  • Request deletion of personal information where the law provides for it.

To make a privacy-related request, contact LeBahamas using the phone number or WhatsApp contact listed in this policy.

We may need to verify your identity before responding to a request involving personal information.

You may also contact Kenya's Office of the Data Protection Commissioner if you believe your rights have been violated.

We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of websites operated by third parties.

We encourage visitors to read the privacy policies of any external services they use.

14. Children's privacy

Our website is intended to provide general information about our business and services.

We do not intentionally seek to collect personal information from children through our public website.

If we discover that information has been collected from a child without an appropriate legal basis or required authorization, we will take appropriate action.
